Hawaiian Guitars Hawaiian Guitars
***Note: for the time being, I'm not taking orders for Weissenborn-style guitars. I'm working on a new product line that will be out sometime in 2007, and for now I'm concentrating on that and resonator guitars***
The elegant shape of Hawaiian (Weissenborn-style) guitars—and lack of metal hardware when compared to a resonator guitar—means that highly-figured woods can really be shown off (if that's the look you're after). So, below you'll see several grades of wood avaiable for these guitars. I also really like the look and tone of a spruce top on many of these guitars, which allows for intricate binding in purfling to stand out. My Hawaiian guitars have a hand-rubbed oil finish, mostly because all the layers of lacquer required for a high-gloss finish would restrict the wood from vibrating optimally, and the resonance of these instruments is the highest priority. I also prefer the classier look of the oil finish.

All of my hawaiian guitars come with:

  • Ebony or koa fretboard with inlayed frets
  • Ebony Bridge
  • White, black, tortoise or ivoroid binding
  • Mother of pearl dot inlay
  • Schaller tuners
  • Select tone woods (the best- looking and sounding I can find!)
  • Arched top and back
  • Hand-shaved bracings
  • Hard-shell case
  • Prices:
$2,500 for quartersawn Koa, mahogany, or myrtlewood.
  • Add $250 for medium-figure Koa (more and richer colors) or curly maple
  • Add $500 High figure koa (incredible color)
  • Add $750 for Master-grade highly-figured Koa
